Hands-on Review: Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells

These dumbbells caught my attention by chance. But when they did, I started to study them carefully. First it was important for me, they are not very sizable, so I put them under the bed, under the chair, in the living-room and anywhere else I like. The actual size is 16.5 inches long and about 8.5 inches wide. Believe me, when you live in an apartment the size is the first what matters.

The design is also attractive. I haven't noticed another same model anywhere.

After training just a little I use these dumbbells not only for my arms to be strong. I also train my back, legs and chest. I even tried some abdominal exercises. Shoulders are trained definitely. It means I do sports as I did it in the gym.

I like the specific "click" when turning the dials. One more thing about the dials: it's surprisingly easy to lift them out of stands. The move is smooth.

What is important - the plates don't wobble. (Of course there is a minimal vibration but it's natural. There is no danger for the one who uses them.) To set the plates down I can use one hand. These items just slide onto stands. You see how easy! It takes a little time. When I'm done with one kind of exercise, I just set the plates and change the move.

One more: when I just saw the spindles 4responsible for the plates, I was shocked because of the size. It seemed to me they were too small. But then I've tried and concluded that the material is hard enough to be safe.

My girlfriend really liked the handles. She said they are designed splendidly! Sometimes while doing certain exercises I start feeling the handles could be bigger for this size of the dumbbells, but it feels just sometimes.

The warranty is amazing: two years for such item! I know that the set also comes with the dvd, but I decided not to but that so I don't know what the disk includes.

So the item is really fine for me.
