Hands-on Review: Logitech Alert 750e Security System

I finally received my Logitech Security system delivered. The starting kit included actually alert outdoor camera, home-plug camera power supply, network adapter, couple of cables (three and six meters long), and stuff for installation (CD, mounting bracket with installation hardware, and quick-start setup guide). And also good news is that camera goes complete with 2 GB memory microSD card, which you actually can replace with up to 32 GB card. But for now it seems to me that 2 GB would be enough as it is good for accumulating up to one week worth of video.

I have already installed it and would like to share my impressions. First of all, it was really quickly. I have Vista as basic operating system. But any other Windows-based computer would be the same well-compatible with the Logitech software.

The next important stage was to plug Ethernet cable in the router of my home network and provide proper connection with internet. When it was done, everything else was really quickly and clear. After you plug the camera to the power and switch it on you get the possibility to receive free updates for your camera and adapters. The camera itself has durable strong construction and is comfortably settled inside the house or in the outdoors. If desired there is possibility to set up to five additional outdoor or indoor cameras.

So my first thoughts about this Logitech security system were more than positive.

What I got, as a result, satisfied me, as the quality of picture was real good and the operational system user-friendly.
I was also pleased that the function of motion detection is very flexible to user’s settings.
You can choose the territory for actual capturing in the video to trigger recording, so to say there is no unnecessary recordings areas from movement on the street.
I liked also the possibility to connect an Uninterruptable Power Supply to the security system, which is also quite simple, and prevents functioning failures in the conditions of non-stable electricity.
Speaking about the picture and sound as well, the quality is both good in the day and night time.
You can easily use zoom, and even during nighttime you can clearly observe small details on the images, except maybe those which move real fast.
And, what is good, camera captures real wide angle, which allows you to observe entire territory of the yard or living-room, for example.

This security system has also a range of other advantages. It can record a video even when your personal computer is switched off and store it in the memory card in the camera. When you want to see recordings just start your PC and choose necessary option. But if your PC is switched on you can use another good possibility of this system – to get real-time picture of your house from wherever you are via web from any PC or Mac using Logitech Web Alert Viewer, or even from your phone! I have downloaded free iPhone application for my system (they can easily be found also for Android and BlackBerry), and now enjoying the view of my indoors and yard when I want.

Logitech Security System has also a useful possibility to send an alert on your mobile e-mail when certain motion is detected, and it will be forwarded on your mobile by most cell phone providers. I haven’t experience this function yet, but I’m very happy that such possibility is provided. Once again mentioning the advantage of easy installation and possibility of real quick-start install, this system might become great help for people, without any special technical education, who have a desire to set Security system by themselves. If I was able to do it without any help from aside, I believe anyone would manage deal with it.
